life distractions
Doesn’t matter how hard you work or how successful you might be, life distractions will happen, and you can’t stop them…

Things like family challenges, financial problems, health issues and more can all get in the way of what you’re trying to accomplish with your online business. So how do you push through when these life distractions happen?

5 Steps for Pushing Through During Life Distractions

1.  Revisit Your Goals

When your goals are right in front of your face, it helps you to stay focused. When you’re challenged with life distractions, you should still strive to continue pushing for your goals. Here’s what I mean. Let’s pick a small issue. You’ve eaten something that’s gotten your stomach all tied into knots and you need to lay down just to feel human.  That’s perfectly fine. Take the rest you need and push through it by putting your work into small segments. Instead of writing a blog-post every other day… take the time you need and write one every 2 or 3 days… just don’t stop working! Now, if you have a major project on the table, it’s okay to push it to the side and continue working on something a little less demanding.

Also keep in mind that you can get so much more done when you outsource some of your tasks. Remember… the “gurus” do very little of their own footwork, and you don’t have to pay an arm and a leg to get help. Fiverr.com can provide people to do just about anything you need for just $5. Don’t rely on them to work your business, but certainly use them to lighten the load when you need extra help.

2. Spend Time on What You Love

Hopefully you’re in love with most of what you do already. But there are always certain things we enjoy doing more than others. When you don’t feel like working, and life distractions are happening all around you, making a choice to do something you love can get your juices flowing again.

Here’s an example. Writing blog posts is my absolute favorite thing to do. I just love to write. So I may need to create a new training module, or a video series… but the push may be too much for that. So, I can always go to what I enjoy most. Doing what you love gives you that extra oomph you need to make sure that something is still getting done. You don’t want your business to suffer during your ‘down’ times and those moments when life distractions are yelling louder than everything else.

3 Go Easy on Yourself… Especially During Life Distractions

Don’t try to be superman or superwoman when life distractions are happening. Nothing can cause you to want to quit faster. Accept that life distractions are going to happen. The pressures and stresses can make you easily lose focus, but if you take it easy, they won’t ware you down. If you want to avoid burn-out, give yourself a break… physically and emotionally. To much strain on a balloon can cause it to pop to the point of no return. Once you get over the hump, you’ll see how much easier it is to get back into focus and pick up right where you left off.

4 Choose a Different Schedule

Depending on what life distractions are happening, it could prevent you from being able to work at the times you’re accustomed to. No problem. Change your schedule. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Just switch gears and work at a different time of day. If your day hours are suddenly no longer available, work a couple of hours in the evening. It’s all about being able to readjust and adapt to change. Do this and you’ll continue to be proactive in your business. Maybe waking up earlier or staying up a little later could be the best solution.

5. Eat Healthy and Get Plenty of Rest

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is the most important thing you can do for yourself when life distractions are happening. It’s so easy to ignore yourself  when things are going on all around you. You have to remember how important it is to take care of yourself, especially when life distractions are happening. Make sure you’re eating the right foods, getting plenty of sleep and exercise. All of these things will keep you healthy and keep your mind free and clear to focus on your business.

When life distractions happen, and they will, having a solid support system can make a world of difference. And more importantly, remember to tuck a little extra away for a rainy day.

I know this article might be a little ‘dark’ for some of you, but it’s about being real. Life distractions happen in the real world. The best thing you can do is be prepared for them.

My main take-away for this post is just to say, when life distractions happen, stay positive, stay focused and keep moving forward. Your business will thank you, and so will your bank account.
