Why You Should Add A Podcast To Your Blog

While adding a podcast on blogs is a huge tactic that many bloggers are starting to use, just a few years ago that wasn’t the case. And even though having a blog podcast is so huge today, many bloggers still don’t do it. Some bloggers are afraid of it and others just don’t know how to get started with it.

What I’ve learned is that there are some huge benefits to adding a podcast to my blog. As a matter of fact, I’m just now starting to realize how important having a podcast can be, so very soon I’ll be adding some of my past recordings to my blog.

Using a Podcast is marketing tool within itself!

If you want to set yourself apart from your competition, one of things you should do is find out what they aren’t doing, that actually works… and you do it! What better way to make that personal connection with your readers than allowing them to hear your voice… hear your heart… and share your enthusiasm.

I almost counted out the possibility of using a podcast page on my blog, but here are a few reasons I didn’t.

Using a Podcast Gives You an Opportunity to Educate Yourself

Consider having a weekly podcast where you’re using the interview platform. This means that you’re actually spending time every week, personally chatting with someone who is seasoned in your industry. While you’re recording the show for your own blog, you’re learning everything that the pro is sharing. Straight talk from an expert is often the best education you can get. You now have more information about your niche that you can share on your blog in greater detail which in turn, will help build trust between you and your readers.

Using a Podcast Can Help You Expand Your Reach

Right now you are probably in the process of building and expanding your network. Because there are a lot of people who prefer listening than reading, you now have an avenue to be noticed by a whole new group of people. Now you’re expanding your audience. You don’t have just blog readers… but you now have blog listeners, as well. And if those listeners have networks of their own, full of others who like to listening, you’ve just enlarged your territory! Not to mention that there are many places where you can publish your podcast for free. So again, there’s another whole audience that you might not have otherwise reached.

Using a Podcast is Very Convenient

Many of your readers will appreciate the fact they they have the convenience of listening to your content. They may have a laptop in the kitchen while cooking, or in the garage while working on the car. Now, they don’t have to wait until they have uninterrupted time to sit and read. They can push play, and still hear everything while they continue doing what they need to do. It’s called multi-tasking, and everybody’s doing it. And don’t forget about all of the mobile devices that people use today. I-phones, I-pads and more have become the new way of life! And it’s certainly no secret that it’s easier to listen than it is to read. Yes, I know… we’ve become a society of laziness when it comes to reading, so it’s only natural that more people would rather listen to your podcast than read your blog post.

A Podcast Will Help You Build More Relationships

Even though you already have somewhat of a relationship with your current readers, your podcast can actually make those relationships better. Just like there is something about the human “touch”, there’s something about the human voice as well. Your podcast gives your blog visitors that certain personal “touch” by hearing your voice that they would never gain by reading your words. When you read, you usually hear your own voice calling the words. When you listen to another voice… yours becomes silent. Can you imagine having a platform on your blog where you’re actually answering your readers’ questions audibly? Hmmm…. not a bad idea!

These are just a few points that I wanted to make about using a podcast.

If you’re not sure how to podcast or where to start, there are multiple resources online to help you. Some are free, some are paid… and some methods may be a little easier than others.

When you’re ready, just be sure to take the time to find a podcast system that works well for you and suits your needs. As that saying goes… practice makes perfect, or in most cases… makes better. Find a podcast platform and play around with it at first. Let your family and friends check you out and critique. Just keep at it and you’ll have your own podcast on your blog in no time flat!
