Niche Marketing… One of the Best Ways to Make Money Online

So…

You’ve found the perfect product…
You’ve chosen the right niche…
You’re ready to promote to your target audience…

Good for you! Now, you’re ready to get into the niche marketing game.

In case niche marketing is all new to you, let me give you a brief rundown.

It’s very simple. Niche marketing is when you find a product or service that offers a solution to a very specific group of people with a very specific problem. This is considered your ‘target market’ for that particular product or service.

When you target a specific group of people for your online marketing efforts, it will save you a lot of money. Narrow it down to a profitable niche and you won’t be wasting your time and efforts trying to reach people who have no interest in what you’re promoting.

If you’re looking for a successful niche marketing plan, here are three little tips that you’ll want to follow. These secrets will help your business become profitable and grow into the online success you’ve always wanted.

Follow these three niche marketing secrets to success…

1. Be sure to address the specific, unique needs of your niche market.

How will your product or service benefit them?
What makes your product or service unique?
How will your product or service personally affect the people in your niche?

When putting together your niche marketing plan, be sure that you know the answer to all of these questions.

Here’s an example.

Let’s say that you’ve created a shampoo. This shampoo highlights the red in your hair. Your shampoo makes the hair soft and shiny. Your ideal market for this product would be people with red hair! It’s unique to them, as a redhead, to have hair that is fiery and extra shiny.

2. Be sure to learn the lingo of your niche market.

Believe it or not, there is a “way of speaking” for different niche markets. You need to know the ‘hot buttons’ so that you can communicate effectively with that particular group of people. That way, you’ll come across as a true ‘insider’ … not just someone trying to sell them something to make a quick buck.

Here’s another example.

Let’s say that you want to market a weight-loss product to new moms who are trying to lose the ‘baby fat’. It won’t work if you come across as someone who doesn’t like children or have never had a weight problem. This may be just a wee bit exaggerated, but you get the point… :-) It simply means that you must be able to identify with the moms in some way.

3. Be sure to test the market for your chosen niche.

One way to test your market is to check out your direct competition and come a ‘cut above’ what they’re offering.

You’ll want to visit websites, check out magazines, read brochures and find a way to spin your product so that it fits your niche market perfectly.

Now this is important to note. If there’s no existing competition, don’t take that as having it in the bag. It could mean that there aren’t enough people in that particular niche for it to be profitable.

Another example…

You’ve created a new baby diaper that beats all the others put together. But… there is a lot of competition… stiff competition out there for baby diapers. Much of the advertising is directed towards a market of moms who care about the baby’s comfort and are worried about leakage. To make yourself unique and not get lost in such a huge market, try this market with a twist. Market instead to clueless fathers who want a diaper that they can change as easy as possible.

So, there you have it.

These three simple tips will help you make the most of your niche marketing. It will also help you get the customers and clients you need to take your niche marketing empire to a profitable level that will result in time well spent.

Choosing a Niche

How Popular Is Your Niche of Choice?

As I’ve mentioned before, when it comes to blogging for fun, it doesn’t matter what your topic is when it comes to choosing your niche. Your blog is about what you love and enjoy sharing with other people. So… if you like it, it’s good!

But, let’s talk about the blogger who is looking at niche marketing as a way to make money.

If you want to make money from your blog, you much choose a niche that is popular!

Here is where the rubber meets the road. Any blogger looking to use their blog to generate income, must choose a niche that people want to know about. A popular niche vs. an unpopular one will will make all the difference in the world.

In case you wonder why it matters…

Because it doesn’t really matter how interested YOU may be in a particular topic… if you want to earn income from it, there needs to be a ton of other people interested in your topic as well.

First of all… you want your blog to be popular within your niche. Since that’s the case, you need to select a niche that is popular as well. Without this element in place, you won’t get the number of visitors to your blog that you need every day. To assure this, on top of knowing how to drive traffic, you need to have a topic that a lot of people would like to know more about.

What makes a niche popular? Supply and Demand!

If your widget is the best one that’s ever been created, and your garage is stacked with them from floor to ceiling… and let’s even throw in that you are one of the top 2% marketers in the whole world… you will never sell your widgets if no one is interested in them.

This is exactly how your blog works. You may have an amazing command of the King’s language, but if no one is reading what you’re writing about, you will still struggle.

So… how do you find whether are not there are enough people interested in what you have to offer?  KEYWORD RESEARCH!!

Now, I know this isn’t the first time you’ve heard this. If you’ve been online for longer than a day, you’ve probably heard of it and you have a pretty good idea (even if you don’t understand how to do it) of what keyword research is.

When you don’t already have a product to market, keyword Research is the very first step to finding one. Want to make money from your blog? There is no way around keyword research.

I’ll repeat it here… If your blog is just for fun and having a ton of visitors everyday isn’t important to you, then don’t sweat it. Simply give your friends the link to your blog and let them enjoy!

So, when you do think about the topic for your niche, remember to ask yourself…

  • Are there enough people interested in reading about my topic?
  • Can I give them enough content to keep them coming back?

If you can’t answer yes to these two points, re-thinking your niche or blog topic may be a wise thing to do.

Just do yourself a HUGE favor. Lay the ground-work first. Failing to do this can greatly defeat the success of your blog before you ever get started. This will save you hours and hours of valuable time. Choosing the right niche through keyword research will also save you the frustration you may experience if you don’t do it right the first time.

When Considering Possible Niches for Your Blog, Consider Your Competition!

Many bloggers get stuck in a rut when they start looking for niches, especially those that are extremely popular, before weighing the competition. Remember this point… If you think you’ve landed a super “hot niche” to blog about, there is a good chance that a lot of other bloggers have latched on to that niche as well.

Sad to say, but a lot of niches out there are so saturated, you may find it difficult to easily rank at the top of the search engines. That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t go for that niche. It simply means that you really need to know your stuff and how to drive traffic if you want to get people searching you out.

On the other hand, if you’re blogging to make money, sometimes choosing a niche that may be a little less popular could work well for you. If you’re an authority on within that niche, you could very easily become a “big fish in the small pond” for that niche.

When you consider niches, make sure that you think about those that a lot of people want to know more about!

I know a lot of new bloggers that get a little discouraged when they start to search for a niche that works. The internet has become so cluttered over the years, people sometimes think that all of the good niches are already gone and with the internet becoming more and more cluttered every day, you might get the feeling that there aren’t any good nichess left to blog about.  You never want to take that approach. Yes, it is about supply and demand, but what you need to understand is that whatever niche you choose, it’s about credibility and branding.

One good way of picking niches with groups that are popular is to stake your claim in a niche that the competition has ignored.

What are they neglecting? What have they forgotten to write about? If you look hard enough, you’re sure to find some gaps?

When I started looking for niches for my target market, one thing I noticed was that many blogs that I visited were for people who were already pretty knowledgeable about blogging. If you were new to blogging, most of the information would be over your head. So, I realized that there was something missing. So I chose to center my blog around beginners!

That was a very simple process for me. I simply approached my blog based on where I was when I knew absolutely nothing about blogging. I considered the information that I needed then, and chose my niche based on that!

So as you start to do research about the niches you will consider, visit other blogs that are within or similar to the niche that you choose. Find out what they’re blogging about and make sure that you include the things that they leave out!

Selecting good niches should have just gotten a whole lot easier!

Choose a Niche
Here’s Something to Consider When You’re Learning How to Choose a Niche…

Do you know if there is enough content available for your topic?

When you come across a blog that is successful, one of the things you’ll always notice is that there is never a shortage of fresh, relevant content on the subject. That means when you choose a niche that is strong, running out of content will never be a problem.

Think about it this way… If you choose a niche that continues to evolve or where the topic is timeless, so will be your blog. If you choose a niche that doesn’t have enough interesting things to write about, before long, your blog will be dead in the water. So be sure to choose wisely.

I’ve listed just two short tips that can help you determine if the niche you have chosen can stand the test of time and continue to give you good blog content.

Basic tips that will help you choose a niche that works!

1. First, take a look in the mirror. Do YOU personally know enough information about your niche topic? What is your personal experience in your niche and how long can you continue to talk about the subject of your niche even when other people have stopped talking about it?

Now, don’t shy away if you aren’t able to answer these questions positively. Having experience in your niche isn’t necessary for success, however, it does make writing for your niche a lot more exciting. When you have a passion for your topic, you’ll find writing about it to be easier and a lot more fun.

2. Next, take a close look outside yourself. Where are outside sources where you can find good relevant content about your niche? What you need to understand is that information is just that… information. So, whether you’re writing out of your own experience or out of what you’ve learned from an outside source, as long as the information is accurate and can help the people in your niche, it’s good content for your blog.

Many bloggers hire and outsource others to write content for their niche topics. This works fine as well, however, you have to be extremely careful of who you’re hiring. If you take the route of outsourcing, be sure to know the abilities of the people you hire to write for you. I will toss in my personal preference here… and that is that you, the blogger, become inspired enough to write your own content rather than hiring someone to do it for you. Of course, when you really hit “guru” status, you’re in a completely different ballgame, where outsourcing is pretty much expected!

There’s Something Important to Consider When You’re Ready to Choose a Niche..

Can you find income streams within the niche you have chosen?

I didn’t make the ‘money issue’ of choosing your niche a main topic of this article for a very specific reason. I realize that all bloggers aren’t blogging to make money. So if your blog, or the niche you have chosen isn’t intended to make you money, this won’t really matter to you.

But for the tons of people who use their blogs to make money, if you intend to choose a niche for revenue, choosing one that people will pay money to learn about can’t be overlooked.

To choose a niche that will make you money, you must do enough research to find out if there is true income potential attached to it. You could have the worst blog on the net or the very best that everybody is buzzing about. If your niche is one that no one is interested in, you’ll waste a lot of valuable time.

Most importantly, be sure you understand the purpose of your blog, then choose a niche that will fit perfectly within the scope of your blog’s main topic.

Choose a Niche
It’s Time to Choose Your Niche Market!

I absolutely love blogging. And the best part… my blog belongs to me. Your blog belongs to YOU. That means that when it comes time to choose your niche, you can make it as personal or business(y) as you like! :-)

When you first start to write your blog, there are some foundations that you want to lay right at the beginning.

Knowing the goal for your blog will help you discover your perfect niche market.

So, what’s the goal of your blog? I can’t answer that for you, but for me… well it helps me to enjoy something that I’m already passionate about… or at least one of the things I’m passionate about.

I love being on the computer. It relaxes my mind, forces me to think new things, gives me a venue to reach out to other people… So while it’s almost a hobby for me… something I do for fun, I’ve turned it into something that generates income, as well.

So how did I discover my niche market?

After I had been blogging for a while, I totally understood things that the “gurus” all said that we bloggers should do. Things like… using tags and categories properly, scattering articles with affiliate links, proper keyword research and placement, seo and all of that.

But, I’ll use myself as an example.

When I first started blogging, I blogged for fun. But there were a lot of things about blogging that I didn’t quite understand. Basic things like how to use WordPress, how to use plug-ins, how to use a hosting account… so many things that I had no clue of how to do. Once I learned I discovered that all I needed was some of the simple processes without all of the hype and fluff, I knew what I wanted to blog about.

So, I found my niche out of my personal experience. My niche is bloggers. My target market is people who are new to blogging and want to learn how to do it right and with simplicity.

Now I know some of the “blog gods” are cringing right now… LOL… relax… it’s okay. As I get more into the details of choosing your niche, we’ll get to the “important” stuff. But I did want to make a point here, which is… choosing a niche that you have an interest in is much better than choosing one you know nothing about. Now, is this mandatory? Absolutely not. And more often than not, people blog in areas where they have no expertise whatsoever… which brings me to my next point.

Here’s a question to ask yourself before you even start choosing your niche.

What do I want to accomplish with my blog? What or who does my blog need to satisfy? If it’s JUST for money, then you’ll have to be a lot more selective in choosing your niche. If it’s JUST for fun, then it really doesn’t matter. Do what you enjoy. In my opinion, I believe the best scenario is a little bit of both.

So now that you know my stance on blogging, we’ll start to dig in to the things that you really want to know… how to choose a niche for your blog.

But I really hope you got my point. Blogging is just as simple as you sharing your thoughts and valuable information with people who are interested in reading about it.

So when it comes down to choosing your niche, I say… just DO YOU!
