Blog Subscribers
Every blogger would like to have more blog subscribers, more web traffic, and more people making purchases.

For full-time bloggers, our blogs are like a precious home that we’ve built from the ground up. We build our blogs to be the very best that they can be and we appreciate when our hard work is noticed.

Why do I say these things? Well… I’m a blogger and it’s how I feel about mine. So, I’m assuming that I’m not alone. That being the case, I want to give you some tips that will help you get more blog subscribers and keep them on your blog  for longer periods of time.

Ten tips to keep your blog subscribers on your blog longer.

1. Keep your navigation simple. The most important elements of your blog are the points that should receive the most attention. Be sure to display those elements by giving them a special tab on your navigation bar. You don’t want your blog subscribers to have to click everywhere to find pertinent information. Using  simplified navigation bars will give your readers a clear guide of what your site is all about and where they can find what they may be looking for.

2. Select a compelling color scheme. You want to pick two to three colors that will be the primary shade of your blog. Allow your blog subscribers to see sections that directs them to specific content on your blog. Don’t go wild with color. Too much is just as bad as not enough and can cause your subscribers to click away too soon.

3. Break up long content with images.  Images  give your content more personality and have a way of portraying messages that words never will. Find images that can speak the emotions that you want your blog subscribers to feel as they’re reading your blog posts.

4. Create a strong header and tagline that will stand out. The first thing your blog subscribers will see when they come to your blog is your header. First impressions are lasting, so you have to decide what kind of impression you want to make. Is your blog designed for professionals…? Is it fun? Make sure that whatever message you want to put out there is being portrayed as soon as your loyal subscriber comes to your blog.

5. Make sure you have enough calls to action. A call to action can be anything from large banner to a 3-word sentence. It can also be anything from asking people to purchase a product or service, or join membership, to making a simple comment or sharing a piece of content. You want to make sure to have plenty of opportunities for your bog subscribers to take action and interact on your blog.

6. Make sure your blog posts have strong, emotional headlines.  While your post images are extremely important, so are your headlines. Your post title is what will get your visitors to either read, subscribe, or skip your post. They might read the excerpt, but what you one is more click-throughs on the “read more” link. And if the topic doesn’t grab the attention of your visitor, they will skip the the excerpt too!

7. Keep your reading level simple. You want to make sure that your blog subscribers actually “get” every piece of content that you write. They don’t want to have to use a thesaurus or dictionary when they’re reading. And especially if your posts are of an informational nature, there’s already enough for your readers to have to grasp, so write with simplicity.

8. When your blog subscribers get to the end of your post, offer them something else. No doubt, your reader may be inspired once they’ve read through one of your posts. What can they now do with all of that inspiration? Here’s where that call to action can come into play. You can always ask your readers to leave a comment to further engage them, and of course, you have offered a section for related posts… right? Always think about giving your visitors somewhere else to go on your site so they’ll stick around longer.

9. Break up your content with sub headlines. Most visitors don’t read through an entire post at first glance. They like to skim to see what the content is actually about. If you think about how you approach reading posts when you visit other blogs, your readers do the exact same thing. I tend to write very long posts. So another thing I’ll do is break it up is add text decorations like bolded, underlined, italicized, and even colored sub headlines. This will help those who skim to find what they want as well as make your loyal blog subscribers enjoy their stay.

10. Find out if your audience is connecting with your content. It doesn’t matter how great your content may be, the most important thing is that it’s being read. If for whatever reason your readers aren’t subscribing to your RSS feed or making comments, you may need to change your focus or consider changing who your target audience is. Let me explain. Your current target audience may have read the same thing you’re writing about a thousand times over. If that’s the case, you need to redirect your audience to a new, fresh group who have never heard it before. In other words, your content doesn’t need to change, but your audience might.

Don’t be afraid to ask your blog subscribers what they want.

There are many things like these that will keep your readers engaged in your writings and on your blog for longer periods of time. And I’ve mentioned it in several others posts on this blog… Simply ask! Find out from your blog subscribers what they want to read about.

Adding a questionnaire to on occasion can do wonders for your blog.

Using this tactic will help you discover topics to write about that would have otherwise missed.

All of the things listed here will assist you in gaining lasting relationships with your blog subscribers and keep them on your blog a lot longer.

And don’t leave out building relationships with other bloggers. It’s not always just about readers looking to learn from you. Consider connecting with other proficient bloggers who can help YOU. You’ll be amazed at the insight you can gain when you’re open to learn, as well. Not to mention that the more you interact with your peers, the more your name will start to surface in internet land.

Hopefully, with these tips, you can reshape the way you think about what you write on your blog and implement some new things. They all work together to help you find the success you desire when it comes to keeping your blog subscribers on your site two and three times longer than normal.
