Is an Affiliate Marketing Blog valuable to every blogger?
If you’ve been online for any length of time at all, you’ve probably heard the term affiliate marketing tossed around at least a few dozen times just in the last few days.
Most bloggers have a pretty good understanding of how to use an affiliate marketing blog, but in case you’re new to the whole concept, you can find out all about how affiliate marketing works on this blog. What I want to cover in this post is… how does blogging come into play when you are promoting affiliate products.
I have to be really honest with you here. If you’re an affiliate marketer and you’re only using the tools provided to you by the creator of the product to generate sales, I can’t begin to tell you how much money you’re leaving on the table.
When I first started with affiliate marketing, I made that same mistake. I didn’t know about how to use an affiliate marketing blog. I’d go to ClickBank or one of the other popular affiliate resources, pick a product, grab my affiliate link, and try to make money posting ads online. Boy, did I have it all wrong. And it didn’t take me too long to figure it out.
One thing I did know about promoting another person’s product is that I’d have the amazing convenience of not having to do any of the hard work to get the product ready for marketing. When you’re an affiliate marketer, all you really have to do is grab your affiliate link and market that link like crazy. But herein lies the problem…
What Do Most Affiliate Product Developers Do for You?
Most product developers will provide you with a slamming sales letter, pre-written auto-responder emails, even some content to post articles, but generally, not enough to fill up an affiliate marketing blog for that specific product.
It’s great that you’re able to get content by the product creator, however, the problem is… every other affiliate who’s promoting that product is using the exact same materials. They’re using same sales letter, the same emails… the same everything. So, what makes you different and why should someone buy that product from you over the next guy? Creating your own affiliate marketing blog.
The sales letters that you get from the product creator, as great as they may be, will never provide you with a way to continue to drip on your potential buyer for a long period of time. And they won’t give you a way to ‘nurture’ that relationship in a more content in a more personable manner.
Affiliate marketers who simply promote links to sales letters, and aren’t using an affiliate marketing blog… (in my humble opinion…) are not really in the ‘true’ affiliate marketing game.
Affiliate marketers who don’t use an affiliate marketing blog have indeed found an amazing method of creating income, one that really can work, but they will generally have to work ten times as hard. They’re not connecting with their audience, they’re not giving their potential buyer anything but a spiced up sales letter, and therefore, they’re losing sales left and right. All because they’re missing the component of an affiliate marketing blog.
In these days and times, internet purchasers have become very savvy… They’ve seen all the letters, read all the hype, watched all the ‘rags to riches’ and ‘fat to skinny’ videos… and they want more! Your affiliate marketing blog will give you a place to give them that extra umph… that many people need to make that decision to spend money with you.
As a true affiliate marketer, you always want to make to use an affiliate marketing blog to draw your prospect into the sales funnel of your product.
You want to give them the information they’re looking for about the product they’re considering. And you want to let them know why they should purchase that product from you… Why do this?
Because, hopefully, you’re going to promote more than one product online. And from my experience, when people have a good buying experience with you, or any one for that matter, they will buy again, and again, and again…
That is, if what you sold them was a product or service of good quality. Now, that’s a whole series within itself.
Understand that an affiliate marketing blog will allow you to stand out from the crowd of typical affiliate marketers.
It gives you that ‘one-up’ that makes people feel comfortable about purchasing from you. It allows you to position yourself as someone who actually knows something about the product you’re promoting and it gives your prospects a feeling that they actually know who they’re buying from.
So, is this necessary in every case? Of course not! There are always exceptions to every rule. But this is one where I will always drive on the right side of the road.
